The phrase "Men in black" ("Men in black" or MIB) came into use in popular culture and ufology thanks to the 1956 book "They Knew too Much about flying Saucers" (orig. "They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers") by the American writer Gray Barker, based on the story of the famous ufologist of that time Albert K. Bender. It was popularized by the American journalist and a member of the Screenwriters Guild John Keel (John Alva Keel), publishing in 1967 an article in the men's adventure magazine "Saga" under the title "UFO Agents of Terror" ("UFO Agents of Terror")
