Initial data
Very bright light, a small red glow from above. From the top left - a blue-green light beam. Every 30 seconds (approximately), the two white lights on the sides went out. The location of the white lights was quite far away from the bright light. A much smaller green / red light came out of this main light and flew towards Cape Lena.
The green / red light returned, flew under the bright light, and randomly flew over the airport grounds. I watched it from 23: 00 to 12: 30 with my two kids and we finally fell asleep.
At 11: 30, I called my friend and she went to a store called Dehart's and watched it with the other people who were standing there.
The bright light swayed, went straight up, left, right, and eventually rose much higher.
I couldn't see the outline of this object because the light was so bright. Juneau doesn't usually have clear skies, and this night was very clear. A large red light between 400 feet above the ground. and higher, moving randomly in all directions and at different speeds. The smaller green light left the red light, randomly moving across the sky, while the red light remained stationary.
I work as a safety inspector for the FAA.
On September 15, 1998, at 23: 30, a friend called me and said that she really believed that she was watching UFOs from her house on the embankment, not far from where I live. I went outside and saw nothing. Then I drove to the boat harbor down the street, where I noticed a big red light that was moving very erratically across the sky. It was completely silent.
The light varied in altitude, with the lowest point being about 400 feet (120 m) above sea level. The red light became stationary, and the smaller green light came out of it and moved along an almost grid pattern, moving quite fast. The red light remained stationary, while the green light shone in all directions.
It lasted 40 minutes. The green light then disappeared into what looked like a red light. Then a large red light shot straight into the sky on the right trajectory. The night was clear, calm, about 40 degrees with a lot of stars.

Summary: A very bright light, small red glow on top. Off to the top left a blue/green ray of light. Every 30 seconds (Approx) two white lights from the sides went off. The location of the whit lights was quite a distance from the bright light. A much smaller green/red light came off this main light and flew off toward Lena Point. The green/red light came back, flew under the bright light and flew erratically over the airport area. I watched this from 11:00PM to 12:30 AM with my two children and we finally fell asleep. At 11:30 I called my friend and she went down to a store called Dehart’s and watched this with some other people that were standing there. The bright light would bob around, go straight up, left, right and eventually went much higher. I will mail a map and try to draw for you what I saw. I did not see an outline of this object as the light was so bright. Juneau does not usually have clear skies and this night was very clear. A smaller green light departed from the red light, moving quite erratically through the sky,while the red light remained stationary. I went outside and did not see anything. I then drove down to the boat harbor down the street where I observed a large red light moving very erratically across the sky. It was utterly silent. The light varied in altitudes, the lowest point being approximately 400ft agl.The red light became stationary and a smaller green light emerged from it and moved in an almost grid like pattern,moving quite fast. The red light remained stationary while the green light moved in all directions around it. This lasted for 40 mins. The green light then disappeared in what appeared to be in the red light. The large red light then shot straight up in the sky with a right hand trajectory The night was clear, calm and about 40 degrees with a multicopy of stars.
