Observation Report

  • Date - December 24, 2012
  • Location - Trout Lake, North Bay, Ontario
  • Time / duration - 20:40 - 20:47
  • The approximate height is from 1000 to 5000 feet.
  • Shape / figure - 5 red-orange opaque lights. The light seems to be pulsing.
  • Direction - The first bearing is observed to the west of the town of Redbridge from Trout Lake.

Description

At about 20:40, a series of red-orange lights were seen coming from the east side of Trout Lake, heading west along the lake shore. The lights seemed to move in an almost V-shaped formation; however, after a few minutes, the illuminated objects appear to be "dancing" around each other. The objects were silent and moved differently from ordinary planes, fireworks, meteors or other natural phenomena. Several people reported the lights to the authorities, and the CFB 22 wing base was notified.

One witness was able to take a picture at 20:45, before the incident ended. The photo was published on December 27, 2012 on the website of The North Bay Nugget. He also claims that the day after the incident, on Christmas Day, pillars of lights were seen on the cranberry peninsula of Lake Nippissing. There is no evidence of a connection, but these sightings and phenomena are rarely reported in the area.

Personal notes-

In my opinion, what I saw was not an airplane, a celestial body, fireworks, searchlights or any other simple explanation. I feel obliged to describe in detail what I saw. It was very strange.
