Initial data
On November 11, 1990, the shepherd Bisen Mamaev, together with an assistant, was engaged in driving sheep. At some point, the shepherd ran out of strength and decided to stop. Since Bisen didn't know the area well, he had no idea that he had chosen a place to rest, popularly called the Devil's Den.
In the protocol of the case it was stated:
"The shepherd's assistant left for a short time, after which he found the completely burned body of the shepherd Mamaev, who was lying defenseless on the ground with no signs of resisting the fire. Due to the sharp charring of the body, it can be concluded that death was instantaneous."
Investigators could not determine the cause of the fire.
It seemed that the fire broke out inside the person. This is evidenced by burns of internal organs, and the fact that underwear suffered more from the fire than outerwear. In addition, the armful of hay on which the shepherd was sitting turned out to be completely intact.
Later, a combine harvester and a tractor driver burned down in a field near the Devil's Lair for an unknown reason.
