The monster from Lake Champlain, nicknamed Champ, is not as famous in the world as Nessie from Scottish Loch Ness, but it is the most famous sea monster in America.

Lake Champlain is located on the border of the USA and Canada. This is a large lake with a length of 172 km and a maximum depth of 122 meters. Potentially, it may well be inhabited by large marine animals.

According to numerous eyewitness reports that regularly arrive these days, Champa has a small head on a long neck and a massive body with flippers, that is, he looks like Nessie.

The earliest known sighting of a mysterious animal in Lake Champlain dates back to 1609 and belongs to the man after whom this lake got its name. In his diary, he wrote that he saw in the lake a snake-like creature about 6 meters long, as thick as a barrel and with the head of a horse.

There he also noted that the local Indians are well acquainted with this creature and gave it the name "chuserou".

Over the past more than 400 years, hundreds of people have observed this strange creature, but only a few have managed to photograph it, and only one person has managed to get a more or less clear picture. The photo below is the only known photograph of Champa that actually depicts an animal of a very strange shape.

Lake Champlain, unlike Loch Ness, has never been explored with the intention of finding a "lake monster" in it, and rare cryptozoologists did not succeed until Kathy Elizabeth, a cryptozoologist from Vermont, recently arrived here.

On September 10, 2022, she sailed across the lake on a boat with sonar, and he recorded a large floating object at a depth, which, presumably, is the same monster.

Katie Elizabeth has spent the last decade studying this phenomenon and has been preparing for this trip for a long time, equipping her Kelpie II boat with a lot of equipment designed for the possible detection of the iconic cryptid.

Her sonar recordings show a long object moving across Lake Champlain at a depth of approximately 13 meters.

The anomaly, according to Elizabeth's estimates, seems to be some kind of living creature that has something long in front of the body, possibly a neck.

Katie Elizabeth compared the appearance and movements of this anomaly with a shoal of small fish, sturgeon, groupers and even whales. And none of them corresponded to the anomaly recorded by the locator.
