So this is when I planned to stop at the entrance to Area 51, traveling from California through Nevada and eventually back to Austin. I photographed my rabbit in national parks and wanted him to be there too. That day I had problems with my car and I was running behind... I started walking down the driveway to Area 51, but got a little confused as it was already dark. I decided to go back to the motel I saw (Lil Al'Inn).
I noticed that I could easily see the Milky Way, and stopped by the side of the road to take a picture of it. Then I saw something flying through the air and recorded it from inside my car. It seemed pretty weird, especially considering where I was. When I got to the hotel, I mentioned it, and they said that the military was conducting exercises that night.
The next morning, leaving, the same woman said that last night her friends were at the groom's lake and sent her a video in much better quality.
She said it was definitely not a normal military exercise and she didn't know what it was. I asked her to send it to me, but she never did.

I started to go down the entrance road to Area 51 but got kind of weirded out since it was already after dark. I decided to back track to the motel I saw (Lil Ale'Inn). I noticed I could see easily see the Milky Way and stopped on the side of the road to take a photo of it. I then saw something shooting through the air and recorded it from inside my car. It seemed pretty odd, especially given where I was. When I got to the hotel I mentioned it and they said the military was doing exercises that night. The next morning when checking out the same woman said that her friends were at groom lake the previous night and they had sent her a much better quality video. She said it was definitely not just the normal military drills and she didn't know what it was. I asked her to send it to me but she never did.

A flaming fragment of space debris from China's newest launch vehicle streaked through the Earth's atmosphere over the western United States late on Wednesday.
Streaking across the skies of California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Colorado, the object broke into many pieces before disappearing. The relatively low speed of the fireball — it took almost a minute to cross the sky — ruled out a natural origin, experts say.
