The message of E.V. Dobrokhotov (32 years old, newspaper employee):
On the 20th of June 1981, on Friday evening, O.N. Dobrokhotov's wife and I went to my homeland, Kuibyshev, Novosibirsk region, at the train station we met a relative of S. Kulagin, who had recently graduated from the aircraft manufacturing Institute, who worked at the Research Institute in his specialty; the summer dawn was barely shining on C3.
Suddenly we saw a ray in the sky - it diverged widely and quickly ended (Fig. 1). The light source was not visible, as if hidden. The beam moved from C3 to SE, just above us, bluish and translucent, like an electric light. Watched
The object is 5-10 minutes before it disappears. There were no sounds. As the object approached, the beam disappeared and we saw a bright glowing dot. A rather bright bluish glow appeared around it in the form of petals or diaphragms, which moved changing their shape (Fig. 2). The glow looked like a gas glow. Then the radiance separated from the luminous point (Fig.3) and gradually disappeared. After that, the glow appeared again and everything was repeated. This happened 2 or 3 times.
When the object appeared above our heads, the radiance disappeared, but instead of one we saw 2 luminous dots, as if 2 powerful searchlights were installed in the bow and stern of the object. The altitude of the object was probably at least half a kilometer, and maybe even higher.
Later, the object followed the horizon in the form of a luminous dot, without emitting a ray, as in the beginning. None of us, including S. Kulagin, an aircraft engineer, could find an explanation for what he saw.
Exact date: on the night of I9 on June 20, or rather already on June 20; about 3h.
It seems to me that the luminous cone was slightly lighter at the top, but the difference in illumination was small. Below, the light ended rather abruptly, although not quite clearly. It seemed strange to me that such a bright ray has a relatively short length and ends rather abruptly. The tip of the triangle was quite sharp, but whether it was absolutely sharp or there was a small slice, we cannot say.
There was a triangle of light, as it seems to me now, and this applies to both cases (December 19, 1981). approximately equilateral. The angular size was approximately equal to the diameter of the Moon. It seems to us that the size of the triangle has not changed as it approaches.
The object followed through the zenith, or almost. The triangular glow disappeared before the object passed through the zenith. Here is an explanatory figure 4:
A is the point of contact of the trajectory with the horizon, B is the zenith.
Explanations: .....the object had not yet been noticed; it stood out as a triangle; 0000000 - in the form of a luminous dot with a "gas glow" around it; - in the form of two luminous dots. After passing zenith, it had the same appearance for a while.
When I saw the triangle, the brightness of its glow was about the same as the light from street neon. a lantern at a distance of 170-200 (Fig. 5). When it turned into a luminous point, its brightness was slightly stronger than the brightness of the brightest stars.
The petals were about the same size (Fig. 6) The circle means the diameter of the moon. It seems to me that the petals were moving clockwise (but maybe vice versa). In general, it was very similar to opening the aperture of a camera lens. They seemed to be positioned exactly in a circle. The edges were quite sharp, only slightly blurred; as they diverged, the blurriness seemed to increase. It seems that for the second time the petals originated from a luminous point, and not at a distance from it. The angular size between the luminous points after the disappearance of the radiance was not at all large: as if, for example, a passenger jet at an altitude of 2-3 km had 2 very powerful searchlights on its nose and tail. The dots were one after the other: movement. How the 2nd dot went out, we find it difficult to say. It doesn't seem quite sudden. We cannot specify the azimuth of the movement. One thing I can say: it passed strictly along Kommunisticheskaya Street. We noticed the object at about a height of 20 degrees of arc. At what height he disappeared, we do not remember.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
