At 3 a.m. on 23.8.78, we were standing on the balcony (5th floor Moscow, Botanic St.) Suddenly, in a clear starry sky, as it seemed to us over the Babushkin district, we saw the trail of a falling comet, but it was large and with sequins. Suddenly, the trail of the comet stopped moving and a huge ball of very bright silver color, 1.5-2 lunar disks in size, suddenly appeared from the bow. He began to move horizontally and at that moment we felt a very unpleasant oppressive effect from the phenomenon that was taking place. My heart was squeezing.

When the ball of steel moved, a bright light background was formed, which occupied a large space above the botanical garden and VDNH and resembled the shape of a whale.

Being above VDNKh, the balloon stopped and began to emit waves of light.

At that moment, we felt our ears pop. For example, I involuntarily began to make swallowing movements, as they do when descending or ascending on an airplane. Then the ball faded and something flew down, leaving the same comet trail as at the beginning of the observation.

The trail disappeared behind the trees. The traces of the flight remained in the sky for about an hour.

When the ball was moving, we felt a hum somewhat similar to the hum of an airplane.

The whole phenomenon lasted 7-8 minutes. In the morning, the residents of the house where I live say that they did not sleep well that night. One woman woke up and felt a heaviness in her heart.

I remember all this very well. I have a good memory, which is related to my profession: I often have to memorize a color pattern when installing a light, which must be repeated several times, at long intervals (several days).
