Copy Cops

Wellington Paranormal (2.4)

TV Show Episode|2019

The discovery of a dead policeman that looks exactly like Minogue leads the cops to a creepy motel in the country full of exact copies of themselves. Although some of them aren't that exact.

In the story, Minogue and O'Leary go to the countryside to investigate the second case of a cow hitting a tree. Sergeant Maaka suspects that this is the result of the activities of aliens who are trying to kidnap cows, but lose them on the way.

Arriving at the scene, the police meet a strange man who directs them to the farm. The farmer, like two drops of water similar to the first villager, takes them to the cornfield. There they find a pattern in the form of circles and stripes, lined with corn stalks. Among the crushed plants, the police discover a strange object that looks like a pepper pod, which douses them with orange powder. They bring the pod to Maake, but he sends them back to conduct surveillance.

At night, the police notice strange plant-like creatures that devour the corpse of a cow, and then begin to pursue Minogue and O'Leary and copy their behavior. Sergeant Maaka arrives to help, sensing something was wrong after the pod left to him grew and began attacking others.

Together, the police lock the creatures in the barn. In the morning, the locked door opens and out of it come creatures that have taken the form of policemen, but with bodies not yet fully formed.

Phenomena in artwork: UFO

UFO appears at the very end of the series and steals the cow behind the officers Minogue and O'leary. It is a classic flying saucer, equipped with a gravitational beam that can (though with difficulty) to tighten the ship a cow.

Phenomena in artwork: Circles on the field and other formations

Police officers find in a corn field formation in the form of several circles connected by lines. As in the classic formations, the circles formed by the corn stalks, flattened to the ground and spun in one direction.

In one of the circles they find the objects similar to the elongated pods or mushrooms, as it turns out later, of alien origin.

Phenomena in artwork: The Alien

Presented in the episode alien beings do not belong to any of the classic types of aliens. Here they represent a humanoid plant, able to move and take the form of people. The aliens eat the meat of dead cows.

At an early stage of development they are like the pod or fungus spores spit when you try to stick your finger into it. As you grow they increase in size and take humanoid form. When meeting with people the aliens start to copy their behavior, including speech. In the end, they take the form of these people, including clothing.

The behavior of the aliens and their relationship with the plant world may be a reference to a science fiction novel by Jack Finney "the stealers of flesh", as well as captured in his classic science fiction film "Invasion of the body Snatchers".
