"Gethsemane"is the twenty – fourth and final episode of the fourth season of the X-Files television series. The episode continues the so-called "mythology" of the series.
Mulder and Scully investigate the discovery by a team of surveyors in the Canadian province of Yukon of evidence of alien life-the body of an alien frozen in the mountains. However, upon the arrival of Mulder and his informant, most of the group members are killed by an unknown person, and the alien's body is cut out of the glacier.
At the same time, Scully's health deteriorates dramatically, and she ends up in the hospital.
Mulder, who has returned from Canada, meets with an employee of the Ministry of Defense named Crichgo. The latter tells him that the body found in the ice is the result of falsification as part of a large-scale conspiracy aimed at concealing real crimes, and gives evidence.
At a meeting devoted to the problem of this investigation, Scully announces that Mulder committed suicide at his home.
Phenomena in artwork: The Alien
The last episode of the fourth season and the first two episodes of the fifth season show alien bodies that are supposedly the result of a hoax and created by genetic engineering. The aliens look like classic "gray" aliens: short, hairless bodies with large heads, huge black film-covered eyes, and a small mouth and nose. Their internal organs are similar to human ones, but there is a fibrous substance in the abdominal cavity that has no analogues in the human body.
The origin of these bodies is still not fully disclosed.
