Locals and tourists flock to the area in the hope of catching a glimpse of the mermaid, who has been spotted performing several tricks and disappearing into the water. According to Shlomo Cohen, one of the first who saw the mermaid:

"I was with friends when suddenly we saw a woman who was lying in a strange way on the sand. At first I thought she was just another sunbather, but when we approached, she jumped into the water and disappeared. We were all shocked because we saw that she had a tail."

The city Council of Kiryat Yam even offers $ 1 million to the first person to take a picture of the mentioned mermaid.

Mermaids are considered mythological creatures with a human head, torso and fish tail. It is said that throughout history they have fascinated people, often distracting them and forcing them to go off the deck of their ships or run ships aground.
