After reading your article from 30.01.85 about the observation of an unusual object in the sky, I decided to write you a letter. I didn't want to write before this article, because they wouldn't believe me, then I don't have any witnesses to what I saw. But in the article there is a request to inform who knows what about it.

It is my duty to state what I have seen with maximum accuracy. If this story had happened to someone, I just wouldn't have believed him. Therefore, I decided to keep what I saw to myself, I did not talk about it with anything, so as not to twist my finger at my temple and say - yes, he is worth it.

The article came into my hands quite by accident, I was offered to read an interesting article. If it hadn't been for her, there wouldn't have been this letter.

It is strange that it does not specify the date of the incident. Is it a secret?

I live 40 km north of Penza in the town of Pyrkino. After leaving home on December 14, 1984, out of habit, I looked at the sky (the accuracy of the date is 100%; I cannot guarantee, but I am sure that the date is correct, the month is absolutely accurate).

The time was 17-30 Moscow time, twilight had already descended to earth. And it was already dark enough. The sky was clear and starry. I like to look at the stars. And even more so the appearance is expected. Halley's comets. Therefore, as soon as possible, pay attention to the sky, to the stars.

In the south, towards Penza, about 50-60 degrees to the horizon, a bright star was burning. I thought that I had not seen bright stars in this part of the sky before. But maybe it's the Salyut station or some other space object. But the satellites are moving, the eye can see, and that means a star. Then why haven't I seen it in this place before? Unclear. Everything else in the firmament was normal. So without coming to any definite conclusion, I stopped thinking about her. Moreover, I had an urgent matter. After about 3 minutes, I was kind of shaken out of my thoughts. I didn't feel anything physically. But it happens in life, you feel someone's eyes on your back. Automatically he looked back, although, however, knowing that the street was deserted. A bright flash splashed across his eyes. Raised his face up. It would seem that at point-blank range, blinding the eyes, the same star shone from the same place. He turned away to restore his vision. The brightness was at the level of electric welding or slightly less. There was no purple hue. There was also no scattered light around the star, as it happens around the moon. I remember that there is blackness right next to the star. I thought it was the wrong source.

Some complicated black-and-white image was confused in my head. As if it was not taken from different cells. All this was fitted, arranged with jewelry care. Despite the complexity, it had a slimness. I would say some amazing harmony. I didn't understand where it came from. Then I didn't think about him anymore.

When my vision was restored, I estimated the illumination.

The illumination was slightly higher than the illumination under the moon. I wanted to estimate the diameter of the luminous circle by eye, this could not be done, obviously the source covered an area of over 50 meters. The shadows of the houses were unusual, they were completely black.

Further observations I conducted fragmentary. After a few minutes, a light ring formed around the source, or rather, it seemed to come off its surface and began to increase. The increase was noticeable by eye and occurred rather slowly.

When the ring was obscured by fog, the source shone through it. Like a frosted light bulb. The ring, or rather now the matte circle was increasing, and the source was gradually fading. And finally it went out completely.

Here it has grown to gigantic proportions.

I missed the moment when it became transparent again. In place of the source is a huge green cloud (or rather dark green) here is such a form (see the picture).

The color gave it a faint green glow. Lights were flashing on its surface like on a Christmas tree. Only there were more shades here. It seems to me that the light inside the cloud was stronger than the outside, because the unshaded part had a gap through which the light penetrated from the inside and additionally illuminated this ledge with green light.

The ring, already a ring, not an arc, has already reached the zenith. The rest of it has gone beyond the southern horizon. The cloud went out and turned into a dark spot in the sky.

The angle of the ring plane to the horizon was obviously small, otherwise, having reached the zenith, the edges of the arc would be just in the west and east. It didn't happen. Both ends of the arc were shifted to the south. The arc had no glow, its composition was just a light fog, which is clearly visible in the dark firmament.

Its width was about the size of a dozen jet planes that flew together. Interestingly, the trail from the plane blurs after 5-10 minutes of observation. The arc, as in the drawing, moved without the slightest flaw until the end of the observation.

When the arc reached about half the distance from the zenith to the northern horizon, I stopped observing. The time was 18-15. For all the time of observation, no matter how much I listened, I did not hear any noise or distant rumbling. Everything happened in absolute silence. Not even a single plane flew over.
