Shimas Algirdas Ionovich writes to the Commission on:
...
In 1946, in winter, my father was returning home on a sleigh on a moonless night. When I turned off the main road (sandy highway) on the baked road, from the front to the left, I saw some kind of luminous cloud on the very surface of the earth, smaller than a horse. The color ranges from reddish to pink, the brightness is small, but on a moonless night it is clearly distinguishable against the background of snowdrifts. When he saw him, he did not pay attention at the beginning, but having already turned left after 10-20 seconds, he turned around and saw that the light followed him, although not on the trail of the sled, but a little to the right, 10-15 meters away, rode through snowdrifts, varying in height from 1 to 1.5 m. My father kept the horse at an easy trot for a while, and the cloud followed at about the same distance. After watching for a few minutes, fear came to him, and he began to drive the horse faster. At the beginning, the cloud lagged 50 meters behind, and then it began to approach again. He was already racing the horse hard and so rode in pursuit for about 1 km.
In this place, 30 meters to the right, there is an 80x80 m cemetery, on which more than 10 trees grow 10-15 m high. When the father had already passed the cemetery, he turned around and saw that the ball following him on the surface, having touched a stone fence 1 m high, jumped up, sliding along the trunk of a tree, climbed to the very tops of the trees, greatly increased in size and shone much stronger, acquiring a white hue, and then, after such a tal, gradually extinguished while maintaining a whitish hue. At this time, the observer managed to move away more than 0.5 km.
