Initial data
Several people saw an object "a round or oval object, larger than a C-47, flying horizontally at a speed of about 5 ml/hour." They watched him for more than 20 minutes from an observation tower.
It emitted a radiance from white to amber in color. behind him stretched an amber trail 5 times longer than the one itself, like the exhaust of an engine. it moved "like an elevator", up and down, and once it seemed to touch the ground. He didn't make any sounds. Then it became less visible and disappeared over the horizon.
Hypotheses
The heavenly bodies
The brightest heavenly bodies in the sky are Venus, Jupiter, and sometimes Mars and, of course, the Moon.
Venus is the bright yellow of the evening or morning star, shining in the sky on the background of evening or dawn. Maximum brightness of Venus can reach up to 4.3 m, and she is the third brightness of the sun in earth's sky after the sun and the moon. It so well reflects the light of the Sun that it is relatively easy to see and day, especially if you know the location. It manifests itself in the form of tiny blinking white dots.
Investigation
D. Menzel believes that it was the Sun.
