Malcolm Handley acababa de llegar del trabajo y estaba hablando con su esposa cuando con el rabillo de su ojo vio una figura a su izquierda a unos ocho pies (2,4 m) de distancia.
Cuando se volvió y miró directamente al lugar, la figura desapareció. Se volvió hacia su esposa, quien le sugirió que mirara de nuevo, y la cabeza de la figura comenzó a moverse de lado a lado, como si dijera "no". De nuevo, cuando miró, no había ninguna figura allí. Su esposa no vio nada.
Según el informe del observador, la figura parecía un hombre vestido con un largo manto negro, y en la Última vista lateral, la figura parecía sostener su mano derecha.
"Su rostro era borroso, pero lo que realmente se destacaba era lo que parecían ser cejas blancas y gruesas y un crecimiento bastante significativo de cabello blanco que parecía estar todo peinado hacia un lado."

Summary: Malcolm Handley had just come from work and was talking to his wife when he saw to his left, out of the corner of his eye, a figure standing about 8 feet away. When he turned and looked directly at the spot, the figure vanished; he turned to his wife, who suggested he looked again, and the figure’s head began to move from side to side, as if to say “no.” Again when he looked, there was no figure there. His wife saw nothing. According to the observer’s account, the figure appeared to be a male, dressed in a long black robe and, in his last side view of it, the figure appeared to be holding up his right arm. “His face was not clear but what did stand out was what appeared to be white bushy eyebrows and a fairly substantial growth of white hair, which seemed to be all blown to one side.” The whole experience lasted four minutes after which the witness experimented with Geiger counters and dowsing rods.
