Varios lugareños y automovilistas en la circunvalación 28 informaron haber visto objetos voladores no identificados el martes por la noche alrededor de las 8:00 cerca del lago Rainbow.
Un testigo * * * de Spruce Street en Manchester dijo a la policía que estaba conduciendo por una carretera de circunvalación cuando vio un objeto brillante flotando sobre el lago Renbow en el cielo. Se acercó para explorar y escuchó que algo caía sobre el lago.
Varias personas que vivían junto al lago estaban al aire libre en ese momento y dicen que dos objetos se movían en el aire.
Un testigo * * * de la avenida Hilda vio los objetos y los describió como "de color amarillo blanquecino".
Un residente de Mark Avenue que pidió no ser identificado le dijo a la policía que los artículos eran "del Tamaño de un volante". Otros testigos también dijeron que los objetos tenían entre dos y tres pies (0,6-0,9 m) de diámetro, pero algunos pidieron que no se les diera su nombre.
Según testigos presenciales, los dos objetos bajaron al lago. Luego, uno de ellos cayó directamente y cayó al agua, creando ondas en la orilla. El otro se disparó y desapareció.
El equipo de rescate de bomberos de East Derry bajó el bote y registró el lago durante dos horas, pero no se encontraron rastros del objeto caído.
La policía recibió más de 40 llamadas sobre la aparición de Ovnis. Sugieren que fueron meteoritos o paracaidistas militares. También se consideró la probabilidad de escape de gas de pantano.

A petición del jefe ***, dos buzos descendieron a Rainbow Lake el viernes por la tarde, tratando de resolver los informes de un objeto volador no identificado que, según tres testigos, cayó al lago el 2 de octubre.
Los buzos iluminaron el agua fangosa del lago con potentes focos, pero su visión se vio afectada por el agua turbia y no pudieron ver más de unos centímetros por delante en ningún momento.
Uno de los buzos dijo:
"La única forma de sacar algo de este lago es drenarlo".
El jefe * * * dijo que no planea drenar el fondo y considera que el caso está cerrado.

Thursday, October 4, 1973 UFO Sighting Unexplained
Several local residents and a motorist on Bypass 28 reported seeing unidentified flying objects Tuesday evening about 8:00 near Rainbow Lake.
_________________ of Spruce St. in Manchester told police that he was driving along the Bypass when he saw a bright object in the sky, hovering over Rainbow Lake. He went in closer to investigate and heard something crash into the lake. Several persons who live by the lake were outdoors at the time, and say there were two objects moving in the air.
_______________ of Hilda Ave. saw the objects and described them as “whitish yellow” in color.
A Mark Ave. resident who asked not to be identified, told police that the objects were “about the size of a steering wheel.” Other witnesses also said the objects were two to three feet in diameter, but several asked not to be identified.
The two objects descended towards the lake, according to the witnesses. Then one of them fell straight down and and splashed into the water, creating ripples on the shore. The other soared upwards and vanished.
The East Derry Fire Rescue Squad lowered a boat and searched the lake for two hours, but no trace of a fallen object was discovered.
Police have received over 40 calls concerning the UFO sighting. They speculate that the objects were meteorites or military para flares. Swamp gas is also considered a possibility.

UFO Divers Strike Out
At the request of Chief _______________, two divers descended into Rainbow Lake Friday afternoon in an attempt to resolve reports of an unidentified flying object that three witnesses claim splashed into the lake on Oct. 2. (My note: Ray Fowler talked to more than twenty witnesses later.)
The divers swept the silty lake water with powerful searchlights, but their vision was impaired by the murky water, and they could not see more than a few inches ahead at any time.
Said one of the divers, “The only way they’re going to get anything out of that lake is if they drag it.”
Chief ________ said he has no plans to drag the bottom and considers the matter closed.
