Alrededor de las 10:50 pm del 15 de mayo de 2000, dos amigos, Pete y Louis, estaban en la Terraza de la azotea del condominio de Pete en North Vancouver. Aunque las condiciones de visualización no eran buenas (Luna llena y mucha contaminación lumínica), utilizaron su horario y clima despejado para observar el cielo. Louis escaneó el cielo con sus nuevos binoculares de gran angular, mientras Pete ajustaba su telescopio.
Pete escuchó a Louis llamarlo por su nombre un par de veces, pero no levantó la vista hasta que escuchó a Louis decir:
"¿Qué demonios es eso?"
Afortunadamente, Pete se arrodilló junto a su telescopio, a unos 10 pies (3 m) al sur de Louis, de modo que cuando miró hacia arriba, se encontró en ángulo recto para ver el objeto. Ambos vieron en el cielo del Norte una gran nave en forma de Boomerang volando hacia el oeste. Era grande, silencioso y se movía rápidamente. Pete dijo que lo primero que llamó la atención fueron los siete triángulos anchos, uno en el centro y tres en cada lado. Los triángulos eran tenues, no resaltados, y el resto de la nave era "negro transparente".
Cuando Pete vio por primera vez el objeto, estaba justo al Norte, a unos 45 grados sobre el horizonte, y solo estuvo a la vista durante unos 5 segundos antes de desaparecer detrás del techo del condominio. Louis inicialmente lo vio más al este, pero se estima que lo vio en menos de 10 segundos. Están de acuerdo en que estaba a unos 1, 000 pies sobre el Suelo y tenía 3 dedos de ancho a la distancia del brazo. Un cálculo Aproximado basado en toda la información daría un objeto en el rango de 140 pies de largo (aproximadamente el mismo ancho).
El investigador de Ovnis Martin Jasek de Whitehorse, nos advierte con esto:
"Unas palabras sobre adivinar distancias. La visión binocular humana termina a una altura de aproximadamente 30 pies (9 m). Al mirar un objeto familiar, como una persona, un automóvil, un Cessna o un Boeing 747, se puede estimar una distancia sustancialmente mayor que este límite. Desafortunadamente, los Ovnis no suelen ser objetos familiares".
Tanto Pete como Louis están casados, tienen hijos, trabajan como técnicos automotrices y comparten un interés en la física, la astronomía y el tema de los Ovnis. Aunque Louis proporcionó un gran dibujo, no quería reunirse con nosotros para discutir esta observación. Lo que vio esa noche le dejó una sensación de ansiedad y "Hibi-jibi" ("piel de gallina", excitación nerviosa, mandrage).

About 10:50 pm on May 15, 2000, two friends, Pete and Lui, were on the rooftop patio of Pete’s condominium building in North Vancouver. Although viewing conditions weren’t great (a full moon and a lot of light pollution), they were taking advantage of their schedules, and the clear weather, to do a little skywatching. Lui was scanning the skies with his new wide-angle binoculars while Pete was making adjustments to his telescope. Pete heard Lui call his name a couple of times, but he didn’t look up until he heard Lui say, “What the Hell is that?”. Luckily, Pete was kneeling beside his telescope, about 10 feet south of Lui so that when he looked up he was at the right angle to see the object. They both saw a large boomerang-shaped craft in the northern sky, travelling west. It was big, silent and moving fast. Pete said that the first things that caught his eye were the seven wide triangles – one in the center and 3 down each side (see drawings). The triangles were dim, not illuminated, and the rest of the craft was “transparent black”.
When Pete first saw the object it was due north, about 45 degrees above the horizon, and was only in view about 5 seconds before it disappeared behind the roof of the condominium. Lui had originally seen it further to the east, but estimates he viewed it for less than 10 seconds. They agree that it was about 1000 feet above the ground and width of 3 fingers held at arm’s length. A rough calculation based on all of the information would put the object in the range of 140 feet long (approximately the same width also). UFO researcher Martin Jasek, of Whitehorse, cautions us with this: “A word about guessing distances. Human binocular vision ends at about 30 feet. One may be able to estimate distance substantially beyond this limit if one is looking at a familiar object such as a person, car, Cessna or 747. Unfortunately, UFOs aren’t usually familiar objects.”
Both Pete and Lui are married with children, work as Automotive Technicians and share an interest in Physics, Astronomy and the topic of UFOs. Although Lui provided an excellent drawing, he was reluctant to meet with us to discuss the sighting. What he saw that night has left him with an unsettled feeling and the “heebie-jeebies”.
