Características / características: gran objeto luminoso naranja en forma de trapecio.
Hubo dos testigos de esta observación, que duró aproximadamente 5 minutos. El avistamiento se produjo sobre un barrio de la periferia rural de la ciudad de Tauranga.
El testigo acompañó a su amiga hasta su coche. Miraron hacia arriba y vieron un objeto brillante naranja ámbar muy grande que se movía lentamente sobre la unidad, dirigiéndose de oeste a este (todo el objeto estaba iluminado). Los testigos describieron el objeto como "enorme" (del Tamaño de un autobús y una casa) moviéndose sobre las copas de los árboles. A medida que el objeto se acercaba, la forma parecía rectangular, pero a medida que el objeto se movía más alto, los lados del objeto parecían más inclinados. En un momento dado, se inclinó brevemente y parecía tener una forma ovalada en la parte superior. Los testigos observaron cómo el objeto se movía lentamente hacia el este y desapareció de la vista en las nubes hacia el mar.
El testigo 1 decidió que era un OVNI, ya que no tenía sonido, no tenía alas y no se parecía a ningún avión conocido.
El testigo 2(que no creía en la existencia de un OVNI) prefería creer que era un satélite o un meteoro (TI). Sin embargo, cuando discutieron el incidente, el testigo 2 admitió que el objeto no podía ser ninguno de los dos.
El objeto tenía la forma (la mayor parte del tiempo) de un trapecio. El testigo 2 esperaba que el Servicio de control de tráfico aéreo pudiera confirmar que se trataba de un avión, pero el ATC informó que no había aviones en el área durante la vigilancia.

Description:
There were two witnesses to this sighting, which lasted approx. 5 minutes. The sighting took place over a subdivision on the rural outskirts of Tauranga city.
A witness was seeing her friend to her car. They looked up to see a very large amber/orange glowing object moving slowly over the subdivision, heading west to east (the entire object was lit up). The witnesses described the object as ‘huge’ (bus to house sized), and moving above the treetops. As the object moved closer, the shape appeared to be rectangular, but as the object moved higher, the sides of the object appeared more at an angle. At one stage it tilted briefly and appeared to have an oval shape on the top. The witnesses observed the object as it slowly moved eastward and was lost from view in clouds towards the sea. Witness 1 considered it was a UFO, as there was no sound, and it did not have wings or resemble any known aircraft. Witness 2 (who did not believe in the existence of UFOs) preferred to believe it was a satellite or meteor(ite). However when they discussed the incident, witness 2 conceded that the object could not have been either of these.
The object was shaped (most of the time) like a trapezium. Witness 2 hoped that Air Traffic Control would be able to confirm it was an aircraft, however ATC has reported that there were no aircraft over this area at the time of the sighting.
