Initial data
Two orange spheres appeared low on the horizon to the left of the North Star. One was hidden during filming, apparently by trees. They hovered, coming no closer, no farther. Seemed fiery and spinning, I believe counterclockwise. I have a video. They disappeared as quickly as they had appeared.
I don't even believe in UFOs, or even the phenomenon I witnessed last night, but watching the video prompted me to say something.
September 24, 1998 North Floor of Alaska from approximately 2235 AKDT to 2243 AKDT The Northern sky is low to the west of the North Star. Last night I was outside shooting the spectacular Northern Lights.
I happened to look out the kitchen window and saw two orange fireballs hovering just above the horizon. I grabbed the camera and filmed them. Only for a short time both appeared together, as the one on the left was lower and believed that the tree line blocked the view. They didn't move forward, back, up, or down, only when they finally disappeared, as they seemed to slowly sink and sink below the horizon.
The object is clearly visible and rotates, I think, counterclockwise. You can clearly see gases or a fire-like image surrounding objects. They look like giant asteroids, but how could they get so close and still not hit the atmosphere? I have NEVER seen or witnessed anything like it.
You can hear the howling and whining of dogs in fear, whatever it is. I tried calling the local news, etc., but they think I'm nuts.
I called Air Force security at Ailison Air Force Base nearby and they suspended me and just said:
Contact the public relations department in the morning, and they'll come and get the video.
