Initial data
A Minnesota witness in Rochester reported seeing a "large, transforming, transparent triangular ship" while cycling along the Douglas Trail in Rochester, according to a witness statement in Case 71504 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The observation occurred at 14: 15 on October 11, 2015, on a "beautiful, warm and cloudless day".
"I was riding a bicycle with my brother," the witness said. "We went to the Douglas Trail, which starts at Rochester, Minnesota, and ends at Pine Island, Minnesota, 13 miles each way. About 10 miles away, we were chased by a large brown hawk."
The hawk was acting strangely.
"That hawk was acting like a madman and wouldn't leave us alone. Finally we stopped, and the hawk was hovering at about 30 feet (9 m) above us. He caught the wind and looked at us. We thought he was going to attack us. I have never seen or heard of a hawk behaving like this. We didn't do anything to provoke him."
After about 30 seconds, the hawk flew away.
"We kept an eye on him until he was some distance away. We were just about to start our trip again when I looked at the hawk in the distance and saw a white ball. The ball was very high. It was a completely cloudless day, so it was the only thing in the sky."
But then the ball began to change.
"I stared at it for about 10 seconds, and then it started to grow in size. It changed its shape and became a large triangular ship. It was transparent, but the sunlight reflected off it. It looks like glass. In the sunlight, you could see its depth and size."
Then the object began to move.
"Then, it swept across the entire sky at an insane speed. It went from the western horizon to the eastern horizon in one second. A huge distance. It had to be moving at a thousand miles an hour. Then he stopped instantly."
The witness then called to his brother to look up.
"He saw it when he stopped and reached for his phone to take a picture. Then the object blinked and shrank until it was gone. There was no time to take a picture. From the moment it grew and flew across the sky to the moment it stopped and disappeared, it was only about five seconds. I didn't have enough time to react to take a picture. After the observation, we continued our bike ride and did not observe the events anymore."
MUFON field investigator from Minnesota, Susan Birtnen, investigated the case and closed it as " unknown."

Summary: A Minnesota witness at Rochester reported watching a “large, morphing, transparent triangular craft” while biking along Douglas Trail in Rochester, according to testimony in Case 71504 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database. The sighting occurred beginning at 2:15 p.m. on October 11, 2015, a “beautiful, warm, cloudless day.” “I went for a bike ride with my brother,” the witness stated. “We went to the Douglas Trail which starts in Rochester, MN, and ends in Pine Island, MN, 13 miles each way. At about 10 mile in we were being followed by a large brown hawk.” The hawk was acting in an unusual way. “This hawk was acting crazy and would not leave us alone. We finally stopped and the hawk hovered about 30 feet above us. He was catching the wind and was staring at us. We thought he was going to attack us. I have never seen or heard of a hawk doing this sort of behavior. We did nothing to provoke him.” After about 30 seconds the hawk flew off. “We kept our eye on him until he was a distance away. We were just about to start our ride again when I looked up above the hawk in the distance and saw a white orb. The orb was way up high. It was a total cloudless day so it was the only thing in the entire sky.” But then the orb began to change. “I looked at it for about 10 seconds and then it started to grow in size. It changed its shape and became a large triangle craft. It was transparent but the sunlight reflected off it. It looked like glass. With the sunlight you could see its depth and its dimensions.”
The object then began to move. “Then it shot across the entire sky at an insane speed. It went from the western horizon to the eastern horizon in one second flat. A vast distance. It had to be traveling at thousands of miles per hour. It then stopped instantly.” The witness then called to his brother to look up. “He saw it when it stopped and he reached for his phone to take a picture. The object then blinked and shrank until it was gone. There was no time to get a picture. From the time it grew and went across the sky to the time it stopped and disappeared was only about five seconds. There was not enough reaction time to get a picture. After the sighting we continued our bike ride and witnessed no more actively.” Minnesota MUFON Field Investigator Susan Birttnen investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown
