Initial data
It was somewhere between 23:00 and 12:00, and there were four of us outside looking at the stars. Suddenly one of the women said:
"Look at this red object!"
I looked straight in the direction of the Big Dipper and saw something that looked like a dark red triangular-shaped object that appeared out of nowhere. He headed east and disappeared in less than three seconds. Before it flew away, I took a quick look at it through binoculars, and the object had uneven edges and a square front. It was dark red in color, and there were no other lights around it.
A second and a half later, when I was looking through binoculars all over the sky for signs of a red object, JM shouted:
"Here! Look! Another one!"
I couldn't believe it. To the right of the Big Dipper, I caught a glimpse of a dark gray object moving in a straight line. It suddenly flashed to a dull white color, and then turned into a bright white egg-shaped object. Then it turned dull white. And again it turned out that it was a dark grayish object.
The UFO moved from the southeast to the northwest in a straight line and in total "flashed" about 11 times. with an interval of two seconds. It was moving at a relatively low speed, so we had enough time to look at it. When it was dark, I looked at it through binoculars and saw a dark gray oval-shaped object. When I last saw it through binoculars, it was still heading northwest and was low over the horizon, and I could see the top of a pine tree in the foreground. Before all this happened, we saw both a satellite and a high-flying plane.
Both UFOs definitely differed both in appearance and in characteristics compared to the satellite and the plane.
NOTE. This observation was included in the list of the 10 best observations in Canada in 1997, as it was witnessed by four adults.
Original news
Date: Saturday, June 28, 1997.
Location: Blind River, Ontario.
It was sometime between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. and there were four of us outside, looking up at the stars. All of a sudden, one of the women said: "Look at that red object!" I looked straight up in the direction of the Big Dipper and I saw what looked like a dark red triangle-shaped object that appeared out of nowhere. It headed east and disappeared in less than three seconds. Before it left, I got a glimpse of it with my binoculars and the object had jagged edges and a square forward section. It was dark red in colour, and there were no other lights on or around it.
A second and a half later, as I was searching all over the sky with my binoculars for signs of the red object, JM yelled out: "There! Look! Another one!" I couldn't believe it. To the right of the Big Dipper, I caught a glimpse of a dark grey object moving in a straight line. It suddenly flared up to a dull white, then became a bright white egg-shaped object. It then dimmed down to a dull white. And once again, it appeared to be a dark greyish object. The UFO was moving from the southeast to the northwest in a straight line and "flared up" about 11 times in total, at intervals of two seconds duration. It was moving at a relatively slow speed so we had plenty of time to look at it. When it was dark, I looked at it with the binoculars and I could see a dark grey oval-shaped object. When I last saw it through the binoculars, it was still heading northwest and was low over the horizon and I could see the top of a pine tree in the foreground. Before all of this happened, we had seen both a satellite and a high-flying aircraft. Both UFOs were definitely different in both appearance and performance in comparison to the satellite and the plane.
NOTE: This sighting made the top 10 list for Canadian sightings in 1997 because of the fact that four adults witnessed it.
