On October 31, 1967, the crew of the IL-14 aircraft, consisting of the commander of the ship, the deputy commander of the squadron, the 2nd pilot and navigator (last name not published), performed a night flight Khabarovsk-Blagoveshchensk.
At a distance of 160 km from Argali, the crew saw a glowing yellow-red object similar to the disk of the Moon. The deputy commander of the squadron noticed that during this period of the month, not the full disk should be visible, but only the crescent Moon. The commander contacted the ground, asked the radar dispatcher if he was observing foreign objects on the screen, and received a negative answer.
Soon the object began to increase and change color to bright blue (the color of burning gas), and then, reaching triple the size of the Moon, disappeared. At this time, the crew of another aircraft, IL-18, contacted the ground, which confirmed the observed mysterious picture by the Il-14 crew.
