A small village in Derbyshire has attracted international attention for its connection with UFO sightings.
Sometimes the most important UFO sightings occur in the most unexpected places, and the small village of Bonsall in Derbyshire, England, certainly falls into this category.
It wasn't the observations themselves that made this village, located on the outskirts of the Peak District, famous on the map - the most amazing thing is the international attention it attracted.
Most of the activity was focused on a two-year period beginning in October 2000, during which 19 sightings of unidentified flying objects were recorded in the sky over the region.
One observation in particular made headlines is Sharon Rowlands, who managed to capture a strange round object on her camera.
Interest in his images of the phenomenon was so great that a Hollywood producer reportedly bought them for more than $24,000. NASA representatives even contacted her because the object she was shooting coincided with the object seen during the Columbia spacecraft STS-75 mission in 1996.
Sightings reported by other locals include an object described as a "fireball", the appearance of two bright lights, and even a "pink glow of vertical shape, similar to a shoe box."
No definitive explanation for these observations has ever been found.

Un petit village du Derbyshire a attiré l’attention internationale en raison de son lien avec des observations d’ovnis.
Parfois, les observations d’OVNIs les plus significatives se produisent dans les endroits les plus improbables et le petit village de Bonsall dans le Derbyshire, en Angleterre, semble certainement entrer dans cette catégorie.
Ce ne sont pas les observations elles-mêmes qui ont mis ce village, situé à la lisière du Peak District, sur la carte – ce qui est le plus surprenant, c’est l’attention internationale qu’il a reçue.
Une grande partie de l’activité s’est concentrée sur une période de deux ans commençant en octobre 2000, au cours de laquelle 19 observations d’objets volants non identifiés ont été faites dans le ciel de la région.
Une observation en particulier a fait la une des journaux – celle de Sharon Rowlands qui a réussi à capturer un étrange objet circulaire sur sa caméra.
L’intérêt pour ses images du phénomène était si grand qu’un producteur d’Hollywood les aurait achetées pour plus de 24 000 dollars. Des responsables de la NASA ont même pris contact avec elle parce que l’objet qu’elle avait filmé correspondait à un objet repéré lors de la mission STS-75 Columbia de la navette spatiale en 1996.
Parmi les observations rapportées par d’autres habitants, citons un objet décrit comme une « boule de feu », l’apparition de deux lumières vives et même une « lueur rose, de forme verticale comme une boîte à chaussures ».
Aucune explication définitive de ces observations n’a jamais été trouvée.
