Initial data
In the period of May 6-12, 1979, between 2 and 3 o'clock Moscow time, an unidentified object was observed flying over Leningrad. According to the story of one of the eyewitnesses who observed it from the balcony of an apartment building in Kupchino, the object was visible in the form of an elongated triangle with the sides concave inwards (all three).
The object glowed in the night sky with bluish-green highlights. The angles of the triangle were distinguished by a zone of increased luminosity.
According to the subjective assessment of an eyewitness, the flight took place approximately at the height of the aircraft coming in, at a speed approximately equal to the speed of the aircraft (or slightly higher) and was accompanied by an unpleasant sound resembling a combination of a sharp bell and a whistle. The height of the triangle was approximately three times the length of the fuselage of the aircraft (in comparison with its apparent dimensions at the same height).
