1954 August 23rd; 01-00 am; approx. 45 min.
Vernon, FRANCE, about 40 miles northwest of Paris
Several observers, including two patrol policemen; an army engineer; Vernon businessman Bernard Misery, to whom the description belongs.
After parking the car and leaving the garage, B. Miserey saw a faint light that left the city. Looking up at the sky, he noticed a huge motionless, silent and luminous mass, as if hanging over the riverbank about 300 yards away. It looked like a giant cigar standing upright.
Suddenly, 2 minutes after the start of the observation, a horizontal disk emerged from the bottom of the cigar, which at first fell freely, then slowed down and suddenly moved across the river to the observer, strongly illuminated; A halo of bright light enveloped him.
A few minutes later, he disappeared behind Monsieur Miseray in the direction of the southwest, flying at an enormous speed. The second and then the third and fourth objects appeared from the cigar and performed the same maneuver.
After a long pause, a fifth disc appeared, bluer than the previous ones, heading towards the new bridge, where it remained motionless for a moment, swaying slightly. At this time, the witness very clearly saw its round shape, a red glow brighter in the center, and a halo surrounding the disk.
After a short pause, the disk, like a flash, rushed to the north, where it disappeared, gaining altitude. At this time, the glow of the cigar began to decrease, and the giant object, which was at least 100 meters long, plunged into darkness.
It all lasted about 45 minutes.
