A series of sightings of unidentified flying objects in Belgium which lasted from 29 November 1989 to April 1990, referred to in the literature as the "Belgian UFO wave".
There are photos that are considered proof of the reality of this incident. One of them, the most known – "black triangle". This photograph, depicting a triangular object at each corner of which is visible light sources, appeared in April 1990. Typically, sources indicate that it was made twenty years of work on behalf of Patrick.
UFO "black triangle" supposedly observed over Wallonia, Belgium on 15 June 1990. (for some reason various sources describing the case, give different pictures. Photo for example taken from [1] and [2])
It should be noted that UFO organization Société Belge d'etudes de Phénomènes Spatiaux (SOBEPS) claimed that this picture is genuine. While skeptics claimed that the photograph was a fake. For example, in the 90-ies of the Belgian skeptic WIM van Utrecht (Wim van Utrecht) showed that pictures can easily be reproduced with a small model.
However, 20 years later, on 26 July 2011, journalist of the Belgian news outlets RTL interviewed Patrick Marechal (Marechal Patrick).
In this interview, Patrick confesses to hoax:
Inspired by reports of a wave of UFO we decided to play mates at work. We took a panel of painted Styrofoam, made him the illumination of several lights, waited for the evening and photographed. We did not think then that photo will spread around the world and gain fame.
During the interview Patrick revealed many slides and prints that object. But even after the recognition of the author of the photo controversy around it continues.
Perhaps there is a video of the interview, but we have yet to find failed.
