Levitation Of Colin Evans

Levitation is a phenomenon of psychokinesis in which objects, people and animals are lifted into the air without any visible physical means.

Colin Evans was a spiritualist medium in the early 20th century, who claimed that he had the ability to levitate. Sorry, details of his biography are not known. He suddenly appeared in the 1930-ies, flashed on the pages of history and again plunged into oblivion. Despite this, the pictures in which he is depicted floating in the air, known until now. Often they are used as evidence of the existence of powers of man and, in particular, levitation.

Colin Evans began his career in Wales, but quickly gained popularity and began touring throughout the UK. The photo that made him famous, was published in the "Daily Mirror" June 13, 1938, and then appeared in print a few more.

Evans usually conducted sessions in large halls and asked that the room was completely dark (this is not surprising, because many mediums have practiced the demonstration of their abilities in the dark, arguing that light drives away spirits). When the observers were gathered around him and began to sing, the room was illuminated with a camera flash (some sources indicate that the photo was taken in the infrared range, which most of the audience looks aloof). In a moment of blinding light you could see that Colin Evans levitating. If you believe his stories, the spirits lifted him into the air, the flash light drove them away, but with the camera he recorded his flight to prove that in a dark room really is something supernatural.

Soon, skeptics have noticed that in all the photos depicting levitation Evans, could be seen some kind of cord going from his left hand, and almost every photo of his legs seemed slightly blurred, and the position of the subject was typical of the man in the jump.

In the end the truth was revealed, and it was found that for cheating Evans used the simplest method – jumping. At the right moment he jumped up from his chair, simultaneously with a wire in his left hand, activating both the flash and the camera mounted on the ceiling.

In the pictures, extant, you can see the surprised eyes of people. These facial expressions are still a associated with amazement from the observation of the flight, but it's just a surprise to know that it's all just a hoax.

The best-known images were taken during the séance in Wortley Hall, Finsbury Park in 1937 and in the Mansions of the North Gate in Regent's Park in 1938. Spectators who watched these performances, demanded their money back.

After several disappointing sessions, and public exposure by several skeptics, Colin Evans disappeared. At least he no longer appeared in public with levitation, and can only assume his fate.

In 40-ies of the 20th century in the UK, there is the famous astrologer Colin Evans (Colin Evans, life years 1894 - after 1953). It is difficult to say the same is people, or just his namesake. The period of active work that Evans was at the turn of 1940-ies - 50-ies. From 1949 he conducted correspondence courses on astrology in "Astrological Bureau" (London). In 1950 he produced astrological ephemeris for 1950 - 55 years. However, he is best known as the author of the astrological guides "New Waite's Compendium..." (the first edition came out in 1953). Based on the popular astrological textbook of Herbert T. Waite 1917, Evans completely redesigned, outlining, in particular, their views on the provisions of the classical Natal astrology.
