Original news
A Burton man has revealed his "amazement" when he found what he believes to be the face of a ghost in a photograph he took in the town centre.
Dave Aisthorpe was waiting to collect his daughter from work at the Lord Burton, in High Street at around midnight on Saturday, March 16 when he took the photograph on his mobile phone.
He took a few pictures around town, but was aghast when he looked back over them on Sunday to discover what he thinks may be a mysterious face.
This picture was taken when Mr Aisthorpe was standing near the Olde Royal Oak, in Burton's market place.
A shape, potentially a face, can be seen looking towards the riverside, next to St Modwen's Church.
"I didn't intend to find anything," Mr Aisthorpe, 55, an administration officer from Anglesey Road, in Burton said.
"My daughter works at the Lord Burton, I'd gone to pick her up and went for a bit of a wander.
"I wasn't looking for anything specific, I didn't look until Sunday morning or afternoon.
"I just thought wow, that's good.
"I tried to debunk what's there by looking at light sources, but I couldn't because of it being that time of night. There was no-one around."
Mr Aisthorpe is no stranger to the paranormal, as he is part of a number of investigation groups, including a number of groups in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
He has been part of investigations at a number of sites up and down the country, including local areas such as Tutbury Castle and Gresley Old Hall.
Mr Aisthorpe said the area had been known to have experienced quite a lot of unexplained "activity" in the past.
He added: "There's been girls seen, monks, it's a very old burial site, the Abbey as well, it's supposed to be very active."
Hypotheses
Pareidolic illusion
A variety of visual illusions (the so-called "sensory illusions additions"); is the formation of illusory images, as a basis which are the details of the real object. Thus, the vague and obscure the visual image is perceived as something distinct and defined — for example, figures of people and animals in the clouds, the image of a man on the moon, "a hidden message", audible when you reverse the audio recordings, the shadows formed by leaves or complexes of objects in certain lighting (sometimes at a certain angle).
