While serving in the USN aboard the aircraft carrier USS FDR, Chester Grushin was below decks when he noticed several of the sailors, hurrying to the flight deck. When he reached the flight deck, there were about 25 people watching the orange oblong light in the sky.
The light approached the ship, swing a way, blocking the background of the stars in the sky and becoming more. In the distance, probably no more than a few hundred feet from the ship, he stopped and hovered.
