Steamer "Byzantium", bound from Ust-Kura RAID in Baku, 22 January, witnessed a rare phenomenon.

At 11.10 PM, when the steamer was at a distance of 6 miles from the island Nargi, the team noticed from the ground separated a large glowing ball, and, rising to a considerable height, disappeared. Then from the top CONSOB different hill with gently sloping sides rose a large glowing pillar, the top of which disappeared into the clouds. The brightness of the flame was so large that not only the surrounding mountains but also the sea in the far distance were lit.

The burning continued for nearly an hour, after which the pillar of fire disappeared. About the power of post lights can be judged by the fact that lit was even a boat that sailed at a distance of 17 miles from the coast.
