Initial data
Sputnik, 1967, N 12:
26 Jul 1965, we explored the ionosphere and noctilucent clouds at the observation station in Ogre, Latvian SSR. At 21.35 we noticed in the twilight of an unusually bright "star" that moved slowly in a westerly direction. Binoculars with eightfold magnification you can see a small flat spot. The telescope showed the following picture.
The body was a lenticular disc with a diameter of about 100 m. In the center was clearly visible thickening of a small area. Around the disk at a distance equal to approximately two diameters, moving the three-sphere, like the one in the center. They slowly revolved around this drive. At the same time, the whole system is gradually decreased, probably away from Earth. 15-20 minutes after the start of the observation sphere started to move away from the disk, scattering in different directions. The sphere in the center of the disk flew off to the side. 22 hours all these bodies were already so far from us that we lost sight of them. They were greenish-pearl matte color.
This phenomenon was observed at an altitude of about 100 km at an angle of 60 degrees above the horizon in a North-westerly direction. We first thought that we see a space rocket or an artificial satellite of the Earth, but they would move with much greater speed than the observed object. In addition, a rocket or a satellite form a single object, not a collection of things.
