Initial data
At least five witnesses from two independent places saw a strange oblong metal object with bright light above and a smaller light on the bottom front.
Two police officers and a businessman described it as a dark grey flattened sphere with brilliant light beam on top, pointing up, and the smaller and dim light from below the beam, pointing down. A dark band surrounded the middle.
Two people North of Corning independently saw the object. Witnesses estimated the diameter of 50-100 ft (15,2-30,4 m). First, the object appeared hovering, then moved slowly at a height of several hundred feet above the ground, finally picking up speed as it disappeared from view in the South. He was visible for about 10 minutes.
