United StatesIn Lake Mendota in 1899, an Illinois tourist anchored a lake when he saw the water boil about 100 feet (30.4 m) from his boat. The beast, 60-70 feet (18.2-21.2 m), with a snake's head, went upstairs. He seemed to be sunbathing.
