Initial data
This radar-visual observation was "written off" as a meteor.
It was observed by three crews. Four dart-shaped objects were witnessed by American Airlines flight 112: a 707 heading East at 39,000 feet, a United Airlines plane eight miles back at 37,000 feet, and a National guard plane four miles away at 41,000 feet.
The objects were tracked on the FAA radar in St. Louis.
The pilot of the National guard plane later claimed that a group of UFOs approached his vehicle almost "right ahead" before abruptly changing course at the last moment and taking off quickly. Confirmed by radar.
