Early in the morning of 1972, farmer J. Poppe, who was in his sixties at the time, was working in his field when suddenly a silver disk shaped like a saucer (with a dome in the middle) flew directly over him.
Since the field he was working on was very flat, the object was very clearly visible when heading towards it. The disk flew over him, just above the treetops. The witness could not recall seeing any markings on the underside of the ship, nor did he see any wires.
The baffled witness ran home to inform his wife and children, who confirm that they had never seen J. R. R. Tolkien before. Poppe is in such a state of shock.
The witness is very reliable and is known as a serious person. Although this is a "single-person UFO encounter," this case can be considered a true sighting.

As the field that he was working on was very flat, the object could be very clearly be seen heading towards him. The disc flew straight over him, at the height of treetops. The witness could not recollect to have seen any markings on the underside of the craft, nor did he see any wires.
Bewildered the witness ran back home to inform his wife and children, who confirm they never before saw J. Poppe in this state of shock. The witness is very reliable, and is known as a no-nonsense person. Although this is a ‘single-person ufo encounter’ this case can be regarded as a true sighting.
