This mermaid really didn't want her house ruined! In Zimbabwe, a mermaid harassed government employees at a dam in several different areas.
As reported Voice of America, water resources Minister Sam Sipepa Nkomo sold to a Senate Committee that the chiefs were going to perform rituals to get rid of the mermaid. Some of the workers went missing, while others refused to install a water pump.
This chief's name is Edison Chihota from East Mashonaland, and he told the media that mermaids exist.
"As a guardian of tradition, I have no doubt," said chief Chihota. "He who disputes this also disputes himself."
They had to hire white workers from the countryside to do the work, but they came back and said the same thing, and the dam was never finished.
