Initial data
Year 1989, the County of North Staffordshire, May COP. One day in December, at about five o'clock in the morning, flight control workers at Manchester Airport found an incomprehensible reflected signal on the radar screens, apparently coming from a large stationary object located on the ground or low above its surface in a southerly direction, presumably in the area of the village of May Kop.
Dispatchers contacted the police department in Kidsgrove, south of Manchester, reported the estimated coordinates of the object and asked to check if there was anything unusual in the area. A patrol car with two policemen was sent to the designated area.
When they arrived at the site, they immediately saw a huge white-green UFO of a spherical shape hanging motionless low above the ground. The object did not react to the appearance of law enforcement officers. However, they could not contact the department and report on the situation: the radio in the car and the policemen's radiotelephones did not work. I had to go back and report in person.
Meanwhile, the department began to receive messages from local residents who saw this very UFO. Soon the number of eyewitnesses was joined by the head of the police department, Peter Groucott. After learning about the results of the police reconnaissance, the management of Manchester airport contacted the command of the nearest air bases, but no information about the mysterious UFO was received.
The police authorities, in turn, sent a written report about the incident to the Ministry of Defense, which subsequently behaved very strangely: it ... categorically denied the fact of receiving such a report!
