The newlyweds see a huge black object in the sky, illuminated by the moon, off the shore of Montego Bay. It glides quickly and silently, and then disappears.
My husband and I had just finished dinner at a restaurant in our newlywed resort when we decided to walk along the beach back to our rooms.
Most of the resort's guests were at a barbecue on a nearby (50 yards away) island called Kokomo, so the resort was pretty quiet and we were alone, except maybe for the occasional employee.
We decided to stop and look at the stars. We were both silently enjoying the view when I noticed a huge black object. (However, I can't determine how far away it was) it cast a slight reflection on the underside, as if the moon was shining on it.
The only way to describe this shape is to say that it looked like a large stingray without a tail, floating in the sky. It didn't make a sound and lasted only a few seconds.
I couldn't understand what I saw, hesitated, and then asked my husband if he saw it too.
n said yes, and said he was glad I saw it, because he thought it was his imagination. We tried to explain it to ourselves, but the only thing we could think of was that it might have been a large black bird gliding through the water. But the only birds we ever saw near the bay were completely white. The bird also had to be within 5 feet of us to appear that big.
We would have seen the bird clearly, because the resort had small lamps that illuminated the nearby footpaths, and we could see the gazebo that stretched out in front of us for about 25 feet.
We tried unsuccessfully to see the object again and finally gave up after about 15 minutes. I don't remember the exact moment when it happened, because it happened more than a year ago, but we immediately told our family about it when we got home.
My husband and I are college-educated, 25 years old, and successfully employed in the Washington Metro area.
