Initial data
A bright arc-shaped white light was observed moving from southwest to northeast at high speed. The altitude is approximately 500 meters (1,500 feet). The distance at the beginning of the sighting is approximately 5 km (8 miles), the distance to the sighting is approximately 8 km (12 miles).
The light seemed to have colored hues at certain points of sight: pink, red, orange. The speed is comparable to the Mirage F1 CZ at Mach 1+. I went out the back door and, as usual, looked at the ridge of hills about 1 km north of my house.
I observed this light moving in the indicated direction (from northwest to east-east), and at the first observation the object appeared just above the hills to the west, at an altitude of about 500 meters. The object moved diagonally across my line of sight until I lost it behind the hills directly north of my position.
From what I can extrapolate, it went about 9 km in 10-15 seconds. That's about 2,100 to 3,200 km per hour (1,300 to 2,000 mph). No sound, but at Mach speed. Should have caused a sonic boom at this altitude.
The light was very bright, white: almost like an arc lamp. No flares or ripples, just a slight change in color that could be due to haze or pollution (it's winter here, and it's already quite dark at 6:30 p.m.).
My biography: a man of 35 years. Current activity: ((three lines of credentials removed)). I live in Pretoria, where there are 2 air bases (Waterkloof and Zwartkops).

Summary: Bright, arc-white light observed moving from WSW to ENE at high speed. Altitude roughly 500 meters (1500 feet). Distance at start ofsighting roughly 5 KM (8 mi.), distance atend of sighting roughly 8 KM (12 mi.)Light seemed to have tinges of colour at certain points in sighting: pink, red, orange. Speed comparable with Mirage F1 CZ at Mach 1+. I stepped out of my back door, and as is my habit, I scanned the range of hills roughly 1 KM north of my house. I observed this light moving in the direction indicated (WNW to ENE), and when first observed, the object appeared just above the hills to the West, altitude about 500 meters. Object moveddiagonally across my line of sight until Ilost it behind the hills directly North ofmy position. From what I can therefore extra-polate, it moved roughly 9 KMs in 10-15seconds. That’s about between 2100 and 3200KM per hour (1300 mph – 2000 mph). No sound whatsoever, but at Mach speeds. Should have caused a sonic boom, at that altitude. Light was extremely bright, white: almost like an arc-light. No strobes or pulsation, just the slight color change that could have been due to haze or pollution (it’s winter here, and at 18:30 it’s just gone fully dark). My background: 35 year old male. Current occupation: ((three lines of credentials deleted)). Live in Pretoria, home of 2 AFB’s (Waterkloof & Zwartkops).
