Initial data
A few friends and I were starting a fire in the countryside when we noticed a large bright orange ball moving rapidly across the sky, which seemed to be following the main route in the area.
We watched it move rapidly in a straight line until suddenly the direction changed and it turned about 45 degrees to the right. Then it quickly disappeared, disappearing after about a minute or two.
He didn't make a sound during the entire event, and didn't seem to be bothered by the small propeller plane that was nearby. The approximate size was a golf ball held at arm's length.
I really have no idea how far away it actually was, but it seemed to be following Sr57, which was about half a mile away from me.
