Initial data
An unidentified flying object crashed on Tuesday on the island of Phu Quoc. Judging by the wreckage, the authorities suspect that it is a plane, but due to the lack of markings on them or the remains of passengers, no firm conclusions have been made.
Residents in the north of the island said they heard explosions in the sky around 11 a.m., and then saw a black object crash to the ground, leaving a white trail of smoke behind it. The island's authorities confirmed that they had found six metal objects, some of which had screws on them, the largest of which was about 1.5 m long.
Truong Quoc Tuan, the head of the party committee of the province of Kienjiang, said that the explosion occurred in the airspace used for international flights. But no signs of piloting the object were found.
Officials informed the airlines of Vietnam and neighboring countries, but there were no reports of a plane crash. The island's militia began searching for possible human victims and other debris to identify the object and find out the cause of the explosion. Fortunately, the wreckage fell in a sparsely populated area.
