Many locals suffered from insomnia for almost a week, vigilantly watching the attacks of "Aswang" (a general term for various shape-changing evil creatures in Philippine folklore, such as vampires, ghouls, witches, werewolves, etc.) in the area.
According to articles in local newspapers, some residents reported a new type of "aswang" wandering through the night cities, describing it as a cross between a frog and a human.
The creature was known as the "eye" and was seen on rooftops all over the city.
