THE WITNESS'S MESSAGE
The UFO controversy will undoubtedly go on forever, but as soon as you come across one of them on your own experience, you tend to "see is to believe".
On a chicken ranch in Reseda, California, in May 1947, I saw a UFO for the first time. Around 16: 30, 300 people hired at the ranch were waiting for the lunch call when I noticed this object in the sky. It looked like a huge eye, just hanging in the sky at an altitude of about 10,000 feet. (I was in the Air Force, and we were playing a game of estimating the height of aircraft, so I think I'm pretty good at estimating the height of an object.)
Studying it, I came to the conclusion that it looks like the lens of a huge camera: a black pupil in the center, bordered by a dark red border and turning into pink. The object started to rise after I watched it for 30 minutes. It slowly rose up, changing color from orange to pink. I watched it until it disappeared, and it took at least two hours. Anyway, it was getting dark when the pink dot in the sky was no longer visible.
The next day, a short article appeared in the Los Angeles Times, which reported the observation, but without explaining the reasons.

REPORT FROM THE READERS
EYEWITNESS REPORT
Arguments about UFOs will continue forever, no doubt, but once you've had personal experience with one, you lean toward "seeing is believing".
At a chicken ranch in Reseda, Calif., in May, 1947, I had my first sight of a UFO. The 300 men employed at the ranch were standing around waiting for the dinner bell about 4:30 P.M. when I noticed this object in the sky. It looked like a huge eye, just hanging in the sky about 10,000 feet up. (I had been in the Air Force and we used to make a game of judging the height of airplanes, so I think I'm pretty good at estimating the height of the object.)
As I studied it I concluded that it looked like the lens of a huge camera: a black pupil in the center ringed with deep red and graduated out to pink. The object started to rise after I had watched it for 30 minutes. It slowly rose straight up, changing color from orange to pink. I watched it until it disappeared and it took at least two hours. It was getting dark at any rate by the time the pink dot in the sky was no longer visible.
A short article in the Los Angeles Times the next day reported the sighting but gave no explanation.
