In Australia, a monster similar to Nessie was photographed. The eyes of journalists around the world turned to the city of Townsville, located in the north-eastern part of the Australian state of Queensland, because of reports of the appearance of a strange object. According to The Australian, on October 25, 2013, vacationers on the beach in Townsville noticed a curved object protruding above the surface of the water.

Some of the eyewitnesses immediately noticed the similarity of the strange object with the legendary Scottish monster Nessie.

"We saw 200 meters from the shore the outlines of a creature with one interesting feature — it had a long curved neck. It was as if it was floating, bouncing up and down on the water," recalls David Herron, who photographed the mysterious object. "And before I could wonder what it was, someone shouted about the resemblance to the Loch Ness monster. I, like the rest of the witnesses to the appearance of the sea creature, have never seen anything like it, so we want to know what it was. But apparently we were watching a sea monster."

However, marine biologists who studied the pictures of vacationers did not see anything supernatural on them. They came to the conclusion that the "curved neck” is a piece of wood or a piece of a boat.

"It's hardly a strange underwater beast—" biology professor Glen Chilton from James Cook University ironically remarked— "It's probably just floating garbage - part of a boat or a branch that seemed to people from afar to be a living being."

Photos of the mysterious object were also interested in Australian cryptozoologist Rex Gilroy, who did not support the locals, saying that it was difficult to identify a strange object from the pictures. According to the cryptozoologist, who is the author of books about mythical creatures, he knows about 800 cases of observations of strange reptiles with long necks and a "ball-shaped" skull shape.

"Some of them were spotted near Townsville. For example, in October last year, a fisherman saw a huge creature - his gray body protruded from the water. But in this case, it is most likely part of a recently sunken boat”" added Rex Gilroy.
