Mysterious substance. India

Initial data

Initial information from sources or from an eyewitness
Incident date:
25.07.2001
Location:
Kerala
India

In the summer of 2001, a mysterious event took place in the Indian state of Kerala — rains from water painted in a terrible bloody color took place throughout the territory. Obviously, such a phenomenon did not go unnoticed, and the media immediately drew attention to these places.

Scientists have not found an explanation for the phenomenon.

Because of the characteristic color of the water, the inhabitants of India considered the rain an omen of terrible events, the punishment of higher powers and the beginning of the end of the world. The fears were not confirmed, and a thorough analysis of rainwater showed its absolute safety for living organisms. Nevertheless, the bloody rain of Kerala is a fascinating mysterious event, and the place where it happened is worth visiting for every lover of mysticism and mystery.

The red rain phenomenon in Kerala was a blood rain that occurred in Vainada (Ambalavail district) Malabar on Monday, July 15, 1957, and the color subsequently turned yellow, as well as from July 25 to September 23, 2001, when heavy rains of red periodically poured over the southern Indian state of Kerala, staining clothes pink. Yellow, green and black rain were also reported. Colored rain was also reported in Kerala in 1896 and several times since, most recently in June 2012 and from November 15, 2012 to December 27, 2012 in the eastern and north-central provinces of Sri Lanka.Wikipedia site:star-wiki.ru

Hypotheses

List of versions containing features matching the eyewitness descriptions or material evidence

Microbes, single-celled algae, phytoplankton, etc.

Most of the microbes produces a white or grayish - white colony, but there are types of microbes that are capable of releasing dyes or pigments of different colors and shades (red, orange, green, yellow, blue, purple).

Colorful clouds and precipitation is unusual

Often colored cloud connected with suspended in the air, coloring substances, such as pollen of trees, flowers, or particles of clay. Precipitation clean the atmosphere from these impurities, appearing in the form of colored rain.

Puddles and snow can color various impurities, such as mikroorganizmy, sand, crushed corals, pollen, etc. up in the air and fell with rainfall.

Black rain is derived from adherence to natural rain of cosmic or volcanic dust.

White, matte dust mountain chalk provokes the appearance of white rain.

Investigation

Versions testing, their confirmation or refutation. Additional information, notes during the study of materials

A study commissioned by the Government of India showed that the rains were colored by airborne spores of local terrestrial green algae from the genus Trentepohlia.

Other researchers have noted repeated instances of red rains in 1818, 1846, 1872, 1880, 1896 and 1950 and several times since. Most recently, colored rains fell over Kerala in the summers of 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2012; since 2001, botanists have found the same Trentepohlia spores every time. This confirms the view that red rain is a seasonal local ecological feature caused by algae spores.
