A rain of mysterious thin threads of white color has passed in Portugal, leaving locals perplexed. Strange white threads come to life in ultraviolet light, and their composition remains a mystery.

Some of the eyewitnesses of the incident even doubt that they have an earthly origin, believing that their source was a UFO flying by.

"They fell in the afternoon. I tried to find out if planes were flying here at that moment, but I couldn't find out anything. This happened two days off in a row. Me and a few friends sent samples for analysis, which showed a lot of strange things. They react to ultraviolet light. They come to life," said one of the eyewitnesses of the incident.

Similar cases of threads falling from the sky have previously been reported in countries such as Finland and Canada, but their samples often literally evaporate before scientists have time to study them properly.

UFO hunters believe that they may be connected to the engines of alien ships or with the so-called "chemical routes", sinister biological agents allegedly distributed by airplanes around the world.
