This story and photo were recently sent to the American researcher of mysterious creatures Lon Strickler. The author claims that he managed to photograph the "river troll".
"About 6 years ago (in 2015) my family and I lived in our houseboat on the river in a small town on the Mississippi coast (a river in the USA).
One evening we were on the veranda and gazed at the surroundings around. The tide was low, and you could clearly see the riverbank and the forest. And we saw something that was about 25 meters away from us, bent down near the water, as if it was going to drink.
I went and got my binoculars and looked at this creature. It was pinkish-brown in color with bulging eyes, funny ears, two arms and two legs, and horns seemed to stick out of its head.
He had a short round body and drank water from the shore. From what I saw, I could swear it looked like a troll. And he was fucking ugly.
Then I took out my phone and took this picture. So far, everyone I've shown it to calls this creature a river troll.
Also, living in a houseboat, you can see a lot of creepy things in the swamp. For example, there were always trees or logs lying across the ditches at our driveway in the middle of the swamp, as if something had placed them there to move through deep areas.
And you couldn't walk back and forth there without that creepy feeling that you were being watched. And it wasn't just me. Anyone I've met here has felt it. There were also strange sounds similar to the screams of monkeys, and once something threw a stone and hit my friend directly.
I still own this house and other houseboats, but none of my adult children go there anymore. And I don't show this photo to other people anymore. I don't need to prove anything, but I decided to share it with you.
I feel like maybe I'm lucky to have been in contact with a few strange creatures in this world. And with some even twice. Yes, in this photo the creature looks blurry and, yes, it is difficult to see it, but you can clearly see its reflection in the water."

It was pinkish tan with bulging eyes, funny looking ears, 2 arms and 2 legs, and what appeared to be horns coming out of it head. It had a short round body drinking from the shore. From what I saw, I would swear it was like a troll. It was devil ugly. I took my phone out and took a picture. To this day, anyone I show it to swears its a river troll.
Now, living on a houseboat, you see a lot of creepy stuff in the swamp. Also, there would always be trees or logs laying across the ditches of our 1000 foot driveway in the middle of the swamp, as if something put them there to cross the deep parts. You couldn't walk up or down with out that eerie feeling of being watched. And it wasn't just me. Anyone who came out our way felt it. You would also hear what sounded like monkeys.
One time, something threw a rock and hit my friend. I still own that property and the houseboats, but none of my grown kids will even go out there anymore. I don't show the picture to other people anymore. I don't have to prove anything, but I'm sharing with you.
