Breaking news – Silvana Castelli, owner of El Descanso camping in Punta Piedras, where the FAO has been conducting periodic sky observations since 1991.
A couple of young people belonging to a group of eight tourists in a tent camp reported that they saw, to their surprise, the rapid descent of a very bright object that plunged into the sea, but not far from the shore, in the area where the tent camp is located.
This event took place on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 02:00. No confirmation it hasn't appeared yet.
The FAO has used the area for night sky observations, and several members have gained notable experience here over the decades. The most memorable of them was the case that occurred at the end of 1996, when the "probe" rose from the shore.
What is really striking is the shallow depth of the water, adding to this its rocky nature (see photo), which makes navigation impossible, but the phenomenon seems to unfold here without interference. This rocky environment gave the name Punta Piedras ("Stone Cape") and makes it one of the most active areas of the country with UFOs, despite its small size. It is for this reason that the FAO-ICOU memorial plaque was installed here. Research continues.

Argentina: Object Plunges into Ocean
Breaking News - Silvana Castelli, owner of the "El Descanso" camping ground in Punta Piedras, where FAO has been conducting periodic skywatches since 1991, that a couple of youths belonging to a group of eight tourists at the campground, reported seeing - to their astonishment - the rapid descent of a very bright object that plunged into the sea, but not very far from the shore, in the area where the campground ends. This event took place on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 0200 hours. No corroborating accounts have surfaced for the time being.
FAO has used this area as a lookout for nocturnal skywatches, and several members have had notable experiences here over numerous decades. The most memorable of these was the one which occurred in late 1996, involving the 'probe' that emerged from the shore.
What is truly startling is the shallow depth of the water, adding to this its rocky nature (see photo), which make navigation impossible, yet the phenomenon appears to deploy here with no hindrances. This rocky environment gives Punta Piedras ("Stony Point") its name, and makes it one of the country's most active UFO/USO areas despite its reduced size. A FAO-ICOU conmemorative plaque was placed there precisely for this reason. Research is ongoing.
