Initial data
A ghost hunter claims he tricked a Black Monk from Pontefract into appearing in a photograph. Paranormal researcher John-Paul Newlands investigated one of the most creepy houses UK in Yorkshire to contact the ghost.
Since then, the 40-year-old man has claimed to have seen a scary Black monk in the lower corner of the upstairs bedroom image in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
Newlands claims that the image depicts a Black Monk from Pontefract in an "intimidating" silhouette, which depicts the legendary ghost appearing in a long robe with a hood and hands raised in front of him.
The surveillance was filmed through a mirror to "catch the monk," and Newlands brushed off the claims of light reflection, instead bragging about his method of tricking the Black Monk.
The ghost hunter also claimed that he was able to contact the monk through his mobile phone.
Pontefract is the site of one of the most infamous alleged hauntings in the UK, with some calling the ghosts on East Road in 1966 "the most violent ghosts in the UK".
Newton said:
"When I saw the photo, my heart sank. I won't lie, I was really overwhelmed by her, and I was at the moment when I almost burst into tears. It really looks like a Black Monk. There was a lot of sadness in the room. I was sad and embarrassed. The moment I took this picture, we all said there was something wrong in this room."
Ghostbuster Newton posted his image on his TikTok and Facebook pages, earning himself hundreds of reviews with an opinion on whether this image is really split.
Newton's believers wrote in support, saying they had seen "a man in a white robe with gold and with a big face," and that his find was "fantastic."
But skeptics were not so impressed, and some detractors said it was just "excessive exposure from light sources" causing "lens glare."

A ghost hunter claims he tricked the Black Monk of Pontefract into appearing in a photo with him, which has since left him "nearly in tears".
Paranormal investigator John-Paul Newlands explored one of the UK's spookiest homes in Yorkshire to contact the phantom.
The 40-year-old has since claimed he caught sight of the dreaded Black Monk in the bottom corner of an image of an upstairs bedroom at the property in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
Newlands claims the image shows the Black Monk of Pontefract in a "frightening" silhouette that shows the fabled ghost appearing with a long, hooded robe and its arms raised in front of him.
The terrifying spectral sighting was taken through a mirror to "catch the monk out," with Newlands brushing off claims of light reflection, instead boasting his method tricked the Black Monk into being seen.
The ghost hunter also claimed he was able to make contact with the monk through his mobile phone.

"It does look like the Black Monk. There was a lot of sadness in the room. I felt sad and uneasy. The moment I took that shot we all said that there was just something that was just not right about that room and then bang."
Ghost hunter Newton posted his image to his TikTok and Facebook pages, earning himself hundreds of reactions, with opinion on whether the image is real split.
Believers of Newton wrote in support, saying that they saw a "man in white robe with gold and a big face," and that his find was "fantastic."
But sceptics were not as impressed, with some detractors saying that it was just "over-exposure from light sources" causing a "lens flare".
Hypotheses
Smoke
Smoke is a stable disperse system consisting of small solid particles suspended in gases produced by the combustion of anything. Smoke particles can serve as nuclei of condensation of atmospheric moisture, resulting in fog.
The smoke resulting from the combustion of various chemical substances can be accepted for the unusual color of the fog. For photos and videos it can give interesting the kind of education that can be mistaken for ghosts.

Multiple exposure or multiple exposure
A special device, which is that the same frame is exposed ("photographed") several times.
The reflection on the glass
The object may be reflected light or any light source. The type of source (lamp, lantern, lampshade, glare from the mirrors of any shape and .t.n.) and the type of reflective glass in the photo can be crosses, circles, objects bizarre.

Re-reflections in lens lenses from a strong light source
The lens consists of a set of lenses (in some lenses - of mirrors), designed for mutual compensation of aberrations and assembled into a single system.
From the contour light (bright light sources behind the subject or next to it), caught in the frame or located outside the frame, parasitic reflections from the internal elements of the lens are formed, called glare (or in slang "hares").
Investigation
Since the photo was taken through a mirror, a similar effect could result from the unevenness of the old mirror (glass distortion or defects in mirror spraying) or stains on its surface.
It is necessary to find the full version of the photo and/or mirror to confirm or refute the version.
We managed to find several other photos from the scene. They clearly show not only dirt and stains on the mirror, but also the decoration of the perimeter in the form of uneven edges. Shooting through these edges could well give such an effect on the photo.
