Initial data
People were confused by a mysterious creature nicknamed "Baby Nessie", which was washed up dead on a British beach.
Images of the animal's corpse were shared by a person who found it on the r/CasualUK page on Reddit.
They wrote:
"Found this the other day on the beach, does anyone know what it is?"
The creature has a flat rounded head, four legs or fins of different sizes and a long tail. Its body is dark gray with white spots on the head up to the tail.
Confused Reddit users rushed to the comments section to guess what it might be, and one of them compared it to a "sleep paralysis demon."
"Baby of the Loch Ness Monster" was another suggestion, although the images are too clear for it to be Nessie.
On a similar but less mythical topic, some people suggested that it could be a "dinosaur".
Others went more specifically and suggested that it was a "liopleurodon", a predatory marine reptile that became extinct in the Late Jurassic period.
Although some of the white markings do resemble what scientists think liopleurodon might look like, fortunately, there were people with more realistic assumptions at hand.
One explained:
"This is a stingray without wings. The male swims on the clasps. Probably processed at sea, and the carcass was thrown overboard."
Agreeing, the second added:
"It looks like a stingray, but without fins."
Several others who claimed to have sea fishing experience all agreed that it was some form of stingray whose wings were either removed by fishermen or eaten by a predator.

Hypotheses
Famous creatures
There are a huge number of different living organisms on our planet. According to recent estimates, the number of species of organisms on our planet is approximately 7-10 million. However, only 15% of the data are described today.
According to the calculations of Canadians, 2.2 million species live in the world's oceans, 6.5 million on land. There are only about 7.8 million species of animals on the planet, 611 thousand fungi, and 300 thousand plants.
Post-mortem changes
Because ordinary people are rarely familiar with the nuances of postmortem changes in organisms, it can often take them for something mystical.
Gray meat flies eat rotting tissue, leaving a sharp edge. This explains the "surgical" removal of organs and parts of the skin. However, such behaviors of the flies many take for the interference of aliens or attacked by unknown creatures.

Investigation
It really looks very much like a gnawed carcass of a stingray (probably a sea fox, or a prickly stingray). Example photo.
